There's something special about walking through the front door at Christmas and being greeted by twinkling lights, greenery, and a few favorite holiday touches.
Our entryway and staircase are always among the first spaces I decorate for the season. I love the way they welcome family and friends and set the mood for Christmas throughout our home.
This year, it's all about the traditional Christmas details I've always loved; lush greenery, rich red velvet ribbons, bright red berries, and the soft glow of warm white lights.
Christmas Along the Staircase
One of my favorite things about Christmas is seeing the house come to life as the decorations go up. And there's nothing quite like turning on the staircase lights for the first time!
With greenery draped along the railings, red velvet bows, berries, and twinkling lights, the staircase feels especially magical. I love looking up from the entryway and seeing the garlands continue all the way to the second floor.
This year, I also added a Christmas gallery wall at the top of the stairs, filled with festive artwork that makes me smile every time I walk by. It's such a fun addition and brings a little extra cheer to the upstairs hallway.
I love how the Christmas touches carry from one part of the house to another. Even a simple walk upstairs feels a little more special this time of year.
A Little Christmas Magic on the Entryway Chest
The chest beneath our staircase is another favorite spot to decorate for Christmas, and you might notice it looks a little different from the earlier photos!
I recently added the sweetest little vintage Christmas train diffuser, and it has quickly become a family favorite.
The train lights up, and little puffs of mist rise from its chimney like smoke from an old-fashioned steam engine. It's such a charming detail, and everyone in our family loves watching it.
Sometimes it's those little unexpected Christmas finds that bring the biggest smiles, and this train has certainly been one of them.
Love this little Christmas train? I've linked it along with a few of my favorite holiday accents on my Shop Christmas Decor page.

The Little Things That Make Christmas Special
I love how the whole house seems to come alive for the holidays.
From the twinkling lights along the staircase to the little train puffing away on the entryway chest, there are so many things that make us smile this time of year.
One of my favorite things is walking through the house in the evening when all the Christmas lights are glowing. There's just something about those quiet moments that makes the season feel especially wonderful.
I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of our Christmas entryway and staircase. I'm looking forward to sharing more of our home over the next few weeks, including our Christmas dining room.
Until then, here's to creating a home you love, one thoughtful layer at a time.
